Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Ms. Vickey Gail Busbea Alawine, 67, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Interment will be at Parkway Cemetery (823 South Huntington St., Kosciusko, MS 39090). Bro. Eric George and Bro. Alex Crosby, both of The Orchard Church of Oxford, will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Vickey was born on December 30, 1956, in Kosciusko. MS, as the youngest of her siblings. At a young age, Vickey was known to be extremely intelligent and had an incredibly compassionate heart, especially for animals. She was often known to bring home any animal in need, and she developed an amazing connection with almost every animal she came in contact with. She had a way of understanding them, and they seemed to understand her as well. She was very good with horses and at times volunteered many hours at different animal shelters. Vickey had a strong-willed and independent personality. She went wherever the wind might take her, and often was in search of her next adventure. She was even known to travel across the country on a motorcycle at a moment’s notice. Vickey loved her family and friends dearly and will truly be missed by all who knew her. Ms. Vickey is survived by her two daughters, Heather (Presley) Hitchcock of Oxford and Jessica (Jason) Begley of Spanish Fort, AL; five grandchildren, Kaden (Katie) Hitchcock of Hazlehurst, MS, Landon Hitchcock and Grayson Hitchcock, both of Oxford, Kameron Clayton of Daphne, Al, and Dixie Clayton of Spanish Fort, two sisters, Penny (Terry) Steed of Petal, MS, and Alice George of Yazoo City, MS; one brother, Terry (Betty) Busbea of Laurel, MS; one sister-in-law, Glenda Busbea of Meridian, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Ms. Vickey was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Victor Busbea, Jr. and Donnie Aurelia Busbea and one brother, Dwight Busbea.
