Robert Lee "Bob" Turgeon

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Robert Lee Turgeon, 90, of Oxford, Mississippi, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford. The family will honor and celebrate his life with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Robert was born on July 20, 1935, in Bonesteel, South Dakota. Affectionately known as Bob, he devoted 26 years of service to the United States Air Force, bravely serving during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. His lifelong commitment to protecting others was more than a duty—it was a calling he answered with honor, courage, and humility. After his military service, Bob began a successful and fulfilling career with American National Insurance Company. He started in Galveston, Texas, training new agents, and later established an agency in Baton Rouge, where he mentored many throughout his career. His leadership and dedication led to promotions to General Agent and, ultimately, Regional Director. Bob’s work was defined by honesty, hard work, and lasting relationships. In 1981, Bob met his wife, Dianne, on a blind date, and they married later that year. Dianne had two daughters, Stephanie and Melissa, whom Bob loved as his own. Together, Bob and Dianne shared a full and joyful life—traveling, participating in church activities, enjoying supper club gatherings, and cherishing their time together. Bob had a lifelong love of learning and could often be found immersed in a good book. He believed knowledge was a gift, and reading was one of his greatest joys. His family knew gift-giving was simple—Bob always wanted a good book. Family was Bob’s greatest treasure. He adored his granddaughter with deep affection and pride, never missing a chance to offer encouragement and love. He also had a soft spot for his loyal dogs, who brought him constant comfort and companionship. Bob will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, kindness, and steadfast character. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the family he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Jenkins Turgeon of Oxford, Mississippi; his daughter, Melissa Turgeon of Richardson, Texas; and his granddaughter, Reagan Turgeon of Richardson, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Turgeon, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
