Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Michael L. Greer, 75, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A graveside service will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. at Camp Ground Cemetery (34-42 CR 386 Water Valley, MS, 38965). Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Greer was born on October 18, 1950 in Water Valley, MS to the late Epsie Greer and Kate Greer. Throughout his life, you never had to wonder what was going on in his head. Mr. Greer was as straight forward and honest as they come. He spoke his mind and believed in hard work, even as a young man. A characteristic that stuck with him throughout his life. Mr. Greer was even still working up till 6 months before his passing, dedicating his life as a hard-working construction man. He was known as a jack of all trades in his field, and there seemed to be nothing that he could not fix or build. Away from work, Mr. Greer was an avid outdoorsman. There was not a thing about the outdoors that he did not love with every bit of his soul. He loved every kind of hunting from bows to guns; he had mastered them all. He was especially proud of his coon hunting career as a member of the Coon Hunters Association and being the owner of a grand champion coon hound. However, Mr. Greers true mastery of the outdoors really showed when he had a fishing pole in his hands. He seemed to have the ability to catch a fish anywhere he chose to place his cork. Above all, Mr. Greer was a God-fearing man who clung to the truth and lived life on his own terms. He found happiness in the simple things in life and in his loving family. He leaves behind an incredible legacy built on hard work, determination, and a love for the Lord and the outdoors that will withstand generations. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Greer is survived by his three children, Michelle (Sam) Norwood of Paris, MS, Michael J. (Carley) Greer of Water Valley, and Dana D. Greer of Baytown, TX; six grandchildren, Lauren (Jake) Yarbrough, Kane (Peyton) Kimzey, and Michael Aaron (Ashley) Greer, all of Water Valley, Desiree’ (Chris) Greer of Baytown, and Matthew (Madison) Norwood and Andrew (Emily) Norwood, both of Oxford; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Linda) Greer of Horn Lake, MS; three sisters, Donna Groner and Kay (Mike) Nelson, both of Oxford, and Rita Hale of Water Valley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents, Epsie Greer and Kate Greer. Donations and memorials in honor of Mr. Michael L.
