Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Matthew Carl Stahl, 42, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home in Oxford, Mississippi. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tennessee. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of local arrangements. Matthew was born on March 4, 1984, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He worked for GE Aerospace for over twenty years, beginning his career in North Carolina before later relocating to Batesville and making his home in Oxford. Throughout his life, he approached everything with dedication and a desire to grow, always searching for the next challenge or opportunity to learn something new. From an early age, Matthew displayed remarkable discipline and drive, earning his black belt in Karate before the eighth grade. Over the years, his interests expanded into many passions including golf, tennis, ski boarding, motorcycles, sports, video games, and the outdoors. He especially loved riding motorcycles through the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, finding both peace and excitement in the open road and beautiful scenery. Known for his easygoing nature and constant smile, Matthew had a unique ability to make others feel comfortable the moment they spoke with him. He was kind to everyone he met, always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need and remained true to himself in every stage of life. Whether he was mastering a new hobby, spending time outdoors, or simply enjoying conversations with family and friends, he brought warmth, sincerity, and encouragement to those around him. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his strong work ethic, his love for life, and the genuine kindness he showed to others every day. Matthew is survived by his mother, Janet (Cleston) Peel of Etowah, Tennessee; his father, Carl Stahl of Etowah; his sister, Lisa (Christopher) Brown of Cleveland, TN; two step-sisters, Tonya Freeman of Tennessee, and Karen (Matthew) Derrick of Montana; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
