Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mary Lou Jolly Holden,75, of Abbeville, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi on Saturday, July 20, 2024. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. Mary Lou graced this world with her presence on February 18, 1949, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, as one of the children born to the late Quinn Lawson Jolly and Annie Lou Pritchard Jolly. She graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1968. Upon graduating from high school, she married and began her family, devoting her time to her family as a homemaker. After the passing of her first husband, William Thomas Busby, she pursued a career in healthcare as a certified nursing assistant. She used her loving disposition and skill to care for the sick and elderly in extended care facilities and home settings. While strolling down the path of life, she found the man, Shannon Holden, who would become her loving husband. Shannon began loving her children as his own and is affectionately known to their grandchildren as ‘Papa Shannon.’ Aside from looking after the family together, the couple loved to travel, most frequently traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, and Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. In Addition to traveling, Mary Lou and Shannon found joy in tending to an expansive vegetable garden. In addition to her roles as a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver, Mary Lou had many hobbies and interests. She was a talented singer who shared her soothing voice with the residents of The Ellison. Her talent led her to win a singing competition in Branson, Missouri, which resulted in Mary Lou being invited to Nashville to record music and cut a CD. Moreover, she also had a green thumb and vast knowledge of flowers, growing many different varieties and colors. Although she has departed from our presence, Mary Lou has gone to rest with her Savior in a land that is fairer than a day, a place where her spirit will sorrow no more. She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; her beloved husband, Shannon Holden of Abbeville; six children: Tina Lewis of Oxford, Mississippi; Carey Busby of Abbeville, Mississippi; Charley Busby and his wife Camille of Abbeville; Waylon Busby and his wife Susie of Courtland, Mississippi Chisolm; Busby and his wife Katrina of Abbeville; Angel Busby of Abbeville; fourteen grandchildren: Meredith Bridgman and her husband Andrew of Paris, Mississippi; Dylan Busby of Abbeville; Landon Busby of Abbeville; Richey Traylor of Oxford; Courtney Traylor and her significant other Tyler of Abbeville; Leslie Traylor of Little Rock, Arkansas; Dalton Busby of Abbeville; Nikki Roden and her husband Ky of Batesville, Mississippi; Briar Busby of Batesville; Brandon Trubey of Abbeville; Trey Busby and his wife Taylor of Abbeville; Kiersten Busby of Abbeville; Preston Perkins of Abbeville; Mary Faith Raylee Perkins of Abbeville; ten great grandchildren: Magnolia Rayne Bridgman, Crew Thomas Busby, Indie Blake Busby, Addison Feather, Maci Feather, Emerie Feather, Kyler Roden, Karla Roden, Taylee Busby, and Willa Busby. The loved ones who departed from this life before her include her first husband, William Thomas Busby; her father and mother, Quinn Lawson Jolly and Annie Lou Pritchard Jolly; and four siblings: Catherine Davis Walls, William Doster, Thomas Jolly, and Quinn Lawson Jolly Jr. In place of traditional flowers, the family has requested that donations be given to the Cherry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
