Mark A. Schingle

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mr. Mark A. Schingle, 60, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at his home in Walls, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Rd. East, Southaven, MS 38672). A graveside service will immediately follow at 12:15 p.m. at Autumn Woods Memorial Park (6240 Davidson Rd., Olive Branch, MS 38654). Interment will also be at Autumn Woods Memorial Park. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. “Mr. Mark” as he was affectionately known, was born November 18, 1960, in Memphis, TN. He attended Saint Anne Grade School and Catholic High School where he graduated in 1979. Mr. Mark was always known to be an outstanding multi-sport athlete in baseball, football, basketball and wrestling. At one time he held the city of Memphis first place title for wrestling in his weight division. He also won the Turri Award in 1979 at Catholic High for being the best all-around athlete in multiple sports. Even after graduation, Mark’s love for sports was passed on to his sons and many others. He enjoyed coaching basketball and especially baseball as his boys were growing up. Needless to say, the kids loved him as much as he loved them. In his free time, Mark also enjoyed woodworking. Out of high school, Mr. Mark worked as a riverboat captain and drove the Charlie E. for Waterways Marina where he saved the lives of at least two people on different occasions as well as a dog in the Mississippi river. He also became a painting contractor for Richards Brothers, where he dedicated over 20 years of work. Mr. Mark had quite a sense of humor and the ability to make an impression on the lives of nearly every person he met. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Stacey Schingle of Walls; two sons, William “Tyler” Schingle of Mobile, AL, and Nash A. Schingle of Walls; two sisters, Susan Cohn and Kathy Mitchell, both of Memphis; and four nephews, Stan Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, and Matthew Cohn. He also leaves his aunt, Alice Suttle of Memphis and his uncle, Gene Schingle ( Peggy) of Mt. Juliet, TN, as well as great nephews and nieces ( Hunter Bailey Mitchell, Bradley Mitchell, Ashleigh and Haileigh Mitchell). Mr. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert Adam Schingle Jr. and Bettye Edge Schingle; and his brothers Walter Thomas (“Tom”) Schingle and Bert Schingle.
