Lawrence "Jeff" Leroy Jefferies

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Lawrence Leroy Jefferies, 82, passed away October 18, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto, in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Rd. East, Southaven, MS 38672). An additional visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Lawrence Jefferies will immediately follow in our chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens Cemetery (630 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672.) Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Lawrence was born to Clinton Henry and Etta Estelle Davis Jeffries on November 28, 1938 in Searcy, Arkansas. He was the most outgoing man one might ever meet, with a delightfully exuberant and witty personality. Reared with a strong Christian faith and patriotic values, Lawrence was a lifelong Baptist and a veteran of the United States Army. Displaying an incredible work ethic, Lawrence began his 36-year career at Southern Leather Shoe Company and was promoted many times. He was one of their top salespeople for many years, establishing shoe stores across the country. While at Southern Leather Shoe Company, he met his devoted wife, Kay. Lawrence and Kay were married in 1988 and had 33 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Once he retired from Southern Leather Shoe Company, Lawrence served our community as a patient navigator at Baptist Hospital. In addition to being a servant his country and community, Lawrence went on many missions as a Christian Ambassador in other countries, such as Jamaica. He and Kay are current members of Hernando Baptist Church. Mr. Lawrence Jefferies leaves his loving wife, of 33 years, Kay Jefferies of Southaven, MS; his two beloved daughters, Susan Jefferies (Richard) Curtis of Hernando, MS and Jami (Jeff) Stafford of Southaven; two brothers, Paul (Peggy) Jeffries of Southaven and Kenneth (Barbara) Jeffries of AZ; one grandson, Asa Lee (Amanda) Phan of Gluckstadt, MS; two granddaughters, Maci Ryan Stafford of Southaven and Sarah Abigail Curtis of Hernando; and a host of friends, nieces, nephews and extended family to mourn his loss and celebrate his life. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Betty Parker Jefferies; his parents Clinton Henry Jeffries and Etta Estelle Davis Jeffries; one sister, Ruth Rodgers; and three brothers, David Jeffries, Jim Jeffries, and Donald Jeffries. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Jefferies’ family requests that memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/). In honor of Mr. Jefferies’ patriotic and loyal service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven the day of his funeral service.
