Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford 1SG John William Fielder, 42, passed away March 31, 2024, in Woodlawn, TN. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Anchor Baptist Church (1009 MS-7, Water Valley, MS 38965). A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Anchor Baptist Church. Interment will be at Anchor Cemetery. Bro. Fish Robinson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. John was born on July 26, 1981, in Tupelo, MS. From a young age, John showed incredible resilience, determination, and leadership ability. He was always so tough, but at the same time, so loving. John had a way of making everyone around him feel safe and welcome. These traits and his selflessness ultimately led him to serve our country in the United States Army, where he found a lifelong career. Throughout his time in service, John’s heroic acts saved countless lives, earning him countless medals, a few of them being: a Bronze Star Medal; two Meritorious Service Medals; a National Defense Service Medal; two Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; an Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; an Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; a Korean Defense Service Medal; three Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbons; three Overseas Service Ribbons; a NATO Medal; a Master Aviation Badge; and several other medals for his excellence. John also received two Unit Awards: the Valorous Unit Award and the Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army). John also had a great love for the outdoors, a love that was passed down from his father, Steve. John enjoyed spending every second he could being outdoors with his son and his father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and competing in archery tournaments, as he was a Pro Staff Shooter for Elite Archery as well. John loved to be on the go, and you would never see him sitting still, he was either in the woods or creating memories with his beloved family and friends. John not only served his country, but he also served his Lord and Savior well through his kind heart and loving soul. John loved his family so dearly, and he has created a legacy where he will remain in the hearts of every person who felt the depth of his love. John will truly be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his wife, Gina Barton Fielder of Woodlawn; his son, Jayden Wayne Fielder of Woodlawn; his father, Steve (Janice) Fielder of Water Valley, MS; his mother, Robin Smith Owens; two brothers, Matt (Tatum) Fielder of Richmond Hill, GA, and Patrick (Jasmine) Hines of Oxford; three sisters, Christi Fielder of Abbeville, MS; Amanda (Heath) Seyfarth of Monterey, LA; and Christie (Josh) Perkins of Oxford; his nieces and nephews, Ryker Fielder, Leihonua Kalani, Rachel Ragan, Allen Ragan, Brantley Gillis, Tyler Heard, Ethan Heard, Eli Seyfarth, Julia Perkins, Caroline Perkins, Ella Perkins, Harper Hines, and Emma Hines; and one great-nephew, Sunny Pettit.
