Joann Ferguson

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Joann Ferguson, 91, of Memphis, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with the service to follow at 12:00 pm at Coleman Funeral Home (6815 Parkview Blvd., Olive Branch, MS). Mr. Winston “Wink” Rush will officiate. The interment will be held at a later date at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Joann was born on July 31, 1931, in South Fulton, TN. Joann was retired from First Tennessee Bank. She was a member at Bellevue Baptist Church. Joann liked to cook and would often bake cakes to bring to family and friends. In her youth, she enjoyed playing basketball and she loved watching women’s college basketball, especially the Memphis Tigers. Family was everything to Joann. She and her husband, Gaylon, were a model of what a good marriage should look like. Joann loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would often take walks or ride the bicycle with them. She knew her grandchildren’s favorite foods and made sure she cooked it for them on special occasions. Joann was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Joann is survived by her sons, Gary Eugene Ferguson (Ella Rebecca "Becky" Hill) of Wildersville, TN, and Keith Lynn Ferguson (Martha) of Olive Branch, MS; granddaughter, Angela Ferguson Danner (Craig) of Memphis, TN; grandsons, Christopher Ross Ferguson (Kristen) of Terry, MS, Adam Matthew Ferguson of Olive Branch, MS, and Justin Michael Ferguson of Great Falls, MT; great-granddaughters, Kayla Marie Ferguson of Bartlett, TN, Henley Rae Ferguson of Slidell, LA, and Hannah Brooke Danner of Memphis, TN. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gaylon Ferguson; parents, Mancel and Ara Roach; sisters, Ada Bell Counce, Martha Childs, Dortha Yates, Geneva Johnson, Essie Nell Morgan, Margaret McCullough, Betty Burcham; and brother, Albert Roach. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
