Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford James W. Williams, 66, of Thaxton, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 17, 2024. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, 601 Commerce Parkway Oxford, Mississippi 38655. The funeral service, a celebration of James's life, will take place in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM. James Williams was born on December 24, 1957, in New Albany. He was one of the seven children born to the late James Williams Sr. and Irene Bishop Williams. James was married to Cindye Taylor Williams for over thirty years until her passing in January 2023. He dedicated himself as a husband, father, and grandfather. Professionally, he had a successful career as a superintendent at Abbey Bridges Construction Company. James had a profound love for outdoor activities such as deer hunting, fishing, camping, and canoeing with his family. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching softball. His passion for sports developed during his high school years, where he was recognized for his exceptional athletic abilities, particularly in football. In addition to his fondness for outdoor activities and sports, James enjoyed spending leisure time at the casino. He also took delight in organizing poker nights with his family and friends. Although James has left us, his memory will always remain cherished by his loved ones. He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence, two sons: Casey Williams of Memphis, Tennessee; Corey Williams and his wife Natalie of Sardis, Mississippi; one daughter, Whitney Williams of Clermont, Florida; three grandchildren: Aiden Williams, Colton Williams, and Katherine Williams of Sardis, Mississippi; one brother, Jimmy Williams and his wife Jennifer of Oxford, Mississippi; four sisters: Ilene Grose of Oxford, Mississippi; Joyce Waldron and her husband Randle of Thaxton, Mississippi; Sara Moody and her husband Jeff of Oxford, Mississippi; Becky Stripling and her husband Robert of New Albany, Mississippi. The loved ones who departed from this life include his wife Cindye Taylor Williams; parents, James Williams Sr and Irene Bishop Williams; one sister, Carolyn Stevenson. The Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford staff is honored to serve the family during this challenging season of life.
