Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford James Edward Cain, 78, passed away February 14, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS, 38655). A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM, also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS, 38655) with Brother Ronnie Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Methodist Church cemetery (1506 MS-335 Etta, MS, 38627). James was born August 6, 1946, in Mississippi to the late James OP and Mattie Cleveland Cain. A saved Christian, James found solace and spirituality in nature, where he often felt closest to God. His church was the vast expanse of the great outdoors, where he tended to his longhorn cattle and embraced the beauty around him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a passion for rodeoing that brought joy and adventure to his life. James was a natural storyteller, captivating those around him with tales of his adventures and experiences. His warmth and kindness made him a favorite among friends and family alike. He cherished the companionship of his dogs and horses, finding comfort in their presence as he roamed the fields and trails. In addition to his love for animals and nature, James was skilled in construction, where he applied his hands-on knowledge to build and create. He was a true cowboy at heart, embracing the hard work and rugged life that came with it. James Edward Cain leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life’s simplest pleasures. He will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Lou Jumper Cain of Oxford, Mississippi; his son, Michael Cain of Oxford, Mississippi; his daughter-in-law, Shannon Cain of Oxford, Mississippi; his grandson, Cameron Cain (Katie) of Oxford, Mississippi; his three granddaughters, Elizabeth Kate, Emma Grace, and Halle Parker Cain all of Oxford, Mississippi; three great-granddaughters, Kayleigh Elise-Ann Wolfe, Avery Kate Cain, and Carly Rae Cain all of Oxford, Mississippi; and his three sisters, Judy Cain, Rose Mary Minard of Linn Oregon, and Nancy Normoyle of Linn Oregon.
