Faye Graham Britt

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Ms. Faye G. Britt, age 97, passed away at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford, MS, Sunday, July 5th and went to her eternal home. A graveside service will be held at Sand Springs Cemetery in Pontotoc, MS, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Scott Thomas will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Faye was born November 10, 1922 to the late R.C. and Lillie Cooper Graham. After graduating from High School she moved to Birmingham, AL and worked at Betchel McComb Air Craft Factory during World War II. There she met and married the first love of her life, Ivan A. Yancy. After the war ended they were transferred to Memphis, TN. While in Memphis she attended the Draughns Business College and was a secretary for Dr. Palmer Moss. Later they moved to Tupelo and after 23 years she retired from the North Mississippi Medical Center. After losing Ivan at the age of 49, and a long widowhood, she met and married the second love of her life, Hugh V. Britt from Brookhaven, MS. Since they were both retired, they traveled extensively enjoying life until his death 10 years later. She then moved to Oxford to be near her daughter and granddaughter. She was an active member of North Oxford Baptist Church and loved her Sunday school class, the BALL (Be Active Live Longer) Club, and the Priscilla card club. Faye strongly believed in spreading the “Good News of Jesus” and giving to mission work in addition to supporting her church. One of her favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Her survivors include one son, Tim (Rose) Yancy of Clinton, MS; and one daughter, Deborah Yancy Snider of Oxford. Ms. Faye was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her brothers: Hanon, Lamon, Guy, and Cye; her only sister Ferrell Graham Cole; and her only granddaughter, Grahame Brooke Snider. In lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to: MS State Foundation (P.O. Box 6149 or One Hunter Henry Boulevard, Mississippi State, MS 39762) for the Grahame Brooke Snider Endowment Artist Series or the donor’s choice.
