Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. David Basil Papaspiridakos-Jones, 23, passed away on September 27, 2023, in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service, officiated by Bro. Fish Robinson, will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. The service will be live-streamed so David’s friends and family, from all over the world, can attend virtually. From the moment he came into this world, it was clear that he had the ability to bring joy and happiness to everyone around him. He had such a comforting presence that he carried with him wherever he went. Even as a small boy, David put the wellbeing of others first. He was such a strong protector of those he cared about and would always stand up for those in need. These characteristics allowed him to make lifelong friends that he considered family everywhere he went. Apart from his loving, cheeky, and one-of-a-kind personality, David was extremely inquisitive and talented. Those who knew him, knew his great passion was fitness - he was always at the gym. He loved to spend time with his friends, siblings, Amalia - his fur-baby, travel, sing and loved a good karaoke night at Rooster’s in Oxford, where he worked part time. He loved spending time with his family, both immediate and chosen, even if it meant he had to go cycling with his father – just as long as it was followed by a good steak! Being the protector he was, David proudly enlisted in the United States Armed Forces as soon as he was of age. This decision led David to touch lives all around the world! One amazing thing about David – also known as “Papa” by many of his friends – was not only the lives he touched, but how close he held them in his heart. He considered all those he met in the military and in his travels his own brothers and sisters. David made it his goal to bring as much joy to others as possible, never missing an opportunity to make someone smile or laugh. His friends knew when he was around, it was going to be an incredible time. David’s memory will be forever cherished in the countless lives he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. David will continue to live on, not only in the hearts and memories of all those who knew him but he will also live on in others: as a ‘Gift of Life’ Organ, Eye and Tissue Donor, he has saved 4 lives and is helping improve the lives of over 75 more. David is survived by his mother, Eleni Papaspiridakos (Oliver Koenig); his father, Alan Jones (Annette Baumeister); his brother and sister, Lucy and Philip Baumeister; his grandparents, David and Kathleen Jones and Kalomira Papaspiridakos and Manoli; his aunts and uncles: Nick and Christine Papaspiridakos, Louise and Steve Davies, Mike, Maria, Zafira, Costas and Vivi Tassou and family, George, Evangelos, Dimitrios, Pantelis and Vasilis Kontakos and families, Richard Lewis; his first cousins, Nicole, Grace, and Jake Papaspiridakos, Kirsty, Hannah, Daniel, and Amelia Davies, all his other cousins, his friends and chosen family all around the world, including and especially, his Army family and his beloved Mississippi family: Rick, Beverly, Matthew, Ricky and Nick Kagey and Brelynn Hudgins. David was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vasilios Papaspiridakos.
