Barbara Ann Deal

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Barbara Ann Deal, 73, of Abbeville, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 26, 2022, from 10:00 am until 12:00 PM at First Baptist Abbeville. The funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Monday, December 26, 2022, at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Abbeville with Dr. J. R. Eaton officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in Abbeville Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Barbara graced this world with her presence on August 20, 1949, in Oxford as one of the seven children born to the late Dennis Deal and Cora Wimberly Deal. She spent her founding years in Memphis and later returned to her roots in Oxford to raise her daughter and reconnect with family. Barbara dedicated over twenty five years of her life to the University of Mississippi Cafeteria and was well known for skill as a cook and welcoming spirit. When retirement called her name she planned on spending her golden years watching her favorite television shows the Price is Right and The Young and The Restless. However, she did not let her hands go idle. She went back to work at the Marquis Chevron on North Lamar. Barbara spent ten additional years serving up meals before being diagnosed with breast cancer. This strong willed lady continued to persevere through the journey of life, winning the battle against breast cancer. She filled her days with family, spending as much time with them as she could, especially her granddaughter Samantha and her great grandson Aden. Although she has departed from our presence her treasured memory will continue to live on within the hearts of her dear loved ones. She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; one daughter, Tammy (Bill) Gunter of Abbeville; one granddaughter, Samantha (Jacob) Summey of Abbeville; one great grandson, Aden Summey of Abbeville; one sister, Geneva Bray of Oxford; special niece and dear friend Tonya (Amos) Greer of Abbeville; host of extended family members. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Deal and Cora Wimberly Deal; three brothers: Floyd Deal, John Deal, and Riley Deal; two sisters: Carrie Boggs and Ann Kesler; one nephew, John Deal, Jr. ; great nephew, Ryan Deal; beloved dog, Flash light. The staff at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is to serve the Deal family as they walk through this season of loss.
