Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford William Edward Tyler, 91, passed away on April 22, 2026, at the Mississippi Home for Veterans in Oxford, Mississippi. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The funeral service will follow immediately on May 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. The interment will take place privately in South Oxford Methodist Cemetery. William Edward, better known as Ed, was born on October 11, 1934, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late Robert Archie and Grace Elizabeth Mills Tyler. Ed discovered his vocation as an electrician, serving the DuPont Company with exemplary skill and unwavering dedication. His colleagues regarded him as a dependable and steadfast presence, ever willing to offer assistance or impart his expertise. Ed responded to the call of duty in his youth, serving his country with distinction during the Korean Conflict. His service in the United States Army instilled in him a profound sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ed was a gentleman of diverse talents and interests. He was an enthusiastic gardener, taking particular pride in cultivating his own vegetables and generously sharing the bounty with family and friends. His backyard stood as a testament to his horticultural skill, flourishing with vibrant plants and echoing with the laughter of loved ones. Ed also derived great pleasure from tending to his birdhouses, thoughtfully observing each bird's unique characteristics. Fishing was likewise among Ed’s cherished pastimes. He treasured the tranquil moments spent at the water’s edge, rod in hand, savoring the beauty of nature and the serenity it provided. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of service, craftsmanship, and kindness lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Janes of Oxford, Mississippi; his son, Mickey Tyler and his wife Debbie of Collierville, Tennessee; his granddaughter, Dr. Regan N. McIntosh and her husband Tyler of Madison, Mississippi; his grandson, Dr. Brandon R. Tyler of Franklin, Tennessee; his great-grandson, Bennett McIntosh of Madison, Mississippi; and his sister, Charlotte Wright of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Archie Tyler and Grace Elizabeth Mills Tyler; his sister Kathleen Wilson; and his two brothers, Marion “Pete” Tyler and Archie Tyler.
