Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Whitney Douglas “Doug” Stuart, Jr., 71, of Oxford, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 05, 2025. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 08, 2025, for a memorial visitation from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, Mississippi 38655). Whitney Douglas Stuart Jr, better known to his friends and family as “Doug,” was born July 19, 1954, in Stuttgart, Germany, as one of the four children born to the late Whitney Douglas Stuart Sr. and Norma Walther Stuart. Doug dedicated over three decades of his life to the University of Mississippi, where he retired after a long and fulfilling career. Never one to stay still for long, he embarked on a second career as Assistant Manager at Walgreens in Oxford, where he continued to serve his community with kindness and integrity before retiring once again. Known for his easy smile, steady presence, and warm heart, Doug was the cornerstone of his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father, and a grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Doug found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who never passed up a chance to be in nature. He also enjoyed camping trips and could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the game and the company of friends. His legacy is one of quiet strength and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Doug leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; beloved wife, Shirley Warren Stuart of Oxford, Mississippi; two sons: Whitney Douglas “Whit” Stuart Ill of Oxford, Mississippi: Andrew Christopher Stuart and his wife Dorothy of Lincoln, Nebraska; one grandson, Thomas Stuart of Lincoln, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Olivia Stuart of Lincoln Nebraska; three sisters: Alice Stuart of Madison, Mississippi; Debbie Stuart of Madison, Mississippi; Betty Hall and her husband Larry of Oxford, Mississippi; and one nephew, Kevin Hall of Oxford, Mississippi. The loved ones who departed from this life before him include his parents, Whitney Douglas Stuart Sr. and Norma Walther Stuart.
