Walter E. Tallie, Jr.

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Walter E. Tallie, Jr., 72, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at his home in Oxford, MS. A visitation will be Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Pastor Richard Booker will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Tallie was born on January 6, 1951, to Walter and Inese Tallie. He was the oldest of 14 children. Walter accepted Christ at an early age and united with Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a trustee. He spent the majority of his life working at Whirlpool, where he ultimately retired from after many years. Mr. Tallie was known to be an incredibly hard worker. He also had a great love for the outdoors, and he enjoyed fishing and gardening when he could. Mr. Tallie will truly be missed by all who knew him. To cherish his memory, Walter leaves behind his two sons, Louis Bell and Henry (Nichele) Bell; his daughter, Tracy Boyd; his grandsons, Henry Bell, Jr., De’Aunte Bell, Treylon Boyd, and Tracardo Boyd; his granddaughters, Latreece Bell, Kiarra (Keldrick) Wiseman, and Tramya Boyd; his great-grandsons, Keldrick Wiseman, Jr. and Kingston Legend Boyd; his great granddaughter, A’maiyah Wiseman; his siblings, Nancy (Robert) Chatman, Elizabeth (Hurray) Sisk, Calvin (Mary) Tallie, Edna Kaye Phillips (James Murray), Sandra Tallie, Edna Faye Tallie, Essie Horton, O.P. (Mary) Tallie, Harry G. Flowers, and Annie B. Tallie; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Tallie was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie W. Tallie; his parents, Walter and Inese Tallie; three sisters, Lillie Mae Tallie, Edna Ann Tallie Wilborn, and Reta Faye Tallie; and two brothers, Q.T. Tallie and W.B. Tallie.
