Shirley Ann Ditto

Shirley Ann Ditto, 87, passed away at her home in Hornlake, MS, on Friday, July 7, 2023. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Hinds Chapel Church Cemetery. Bro. Creighton White will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Shirley was born to the late Emiel and Alice Louella (Cooper) Blackburn in Memphis, TN. She spent the majority of her life as a housewife and being a mother to her children. After her children were grown, she went to work for the Desoto County School District and then later, First Presbyterian Mothers Day Out for a few years. She also volunteered at the local Children’s Homes. Shirley is described by her family as being loving, caring, and having a sweet spirit. She loved to see her family happy and spoiling them any chance she got. She loved nothing more than seeing them smile, often from her pulling jokes on them. To say the least, Shirley was a child at heart and loved being around children. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s programs and events. She taught them to always be grateful for what you’ve got, spread love, and always treat others better than you would treat yourself. She was also a very active member of Hinds Chapel Church, where she enjoyed her Ladies Group and teaching children’s church. Whatever the need was, Shirley could always be found lending a helping hand at her beloved church. Her sweet spirit and character will be dearly missed. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Billy Ditto; her children, Debbie (Mike) Jackson and Daryl Ditto; her grandchildren, Natalie (Shannon) Ditto, Laurie (Martin) Fisher, and Lacey (Dusty) Knight; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Reed, Aydin Reed, Aubree Fisher, and Trace Knight; and her siblings, James (Pat) Blackburn and Linda (Richard) Worton. Shirley was preceded in death by her precious great-grandson, Camden Fisher; her parents, Emiel and Alice Louella (Cooper) Blackburn; and her two sisters, Gene Farris and Carolyn Butler. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mrs. Shirley Ann Ditto can be made to the Hinds Chapel Church Ladies Group (4866 Fogg Road, Nesbit, MS 38651).
