Rodney Dean Ritter

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Rodney Dean Ritter, 76, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Byhalia, MS from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The interment will be held at a later date at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Bro. Oscar Geeslin will officiate. Dean was born on September 11, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa. He served our country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dean was a faithful member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church. He worked many jobs over the years such as laying bricks, installing pools, and ultimately started his own business running a cleaning service. Dean was married to the love of his life, Patsy, for 39 years in December. He was always funny and an enjoyable person to be around. Dean enjoyed fishing and watching all types of ballgames. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy; he loved playing, laughing, and traveling with them more than anything. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Warmsbecker Ritter and Rodney Rex Ritter; and brothers, Jerry Ritter, George Ritter, and Terry Ritter. Dean is survived by his wife, Patsy Ritter of Olive Branch, MS; sons, Michael Wayne Griffus (Karen) of Olive Branch, Stephen Joe Griffus of Olive Branch, and Tim Stark (Holly) of Olive Branch; sister, Ruth Coleman of Memphis, TN; brother, Jimmy Ritter (Joy) of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughters, Amanda Apperson (Alex) and Kacie Hall (Aaron), and great grandchildren, Parker Apperson and Avery Apperson, all of Olive Branch; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of traditional flowers, donations may be made in his name to Memphis Union Mission (www.memphisunionmission.org), Meadow Brook Baptist Church (www.mbbcms.org), or the Tunica Humane Society (http://www.tunicahumanesociety.com/). In honor of Dean Ritter's service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home on the day of the services.
