Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mr. Rodney Steve Evans, 66, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his home in Hernando, MS, with his family by his side. A visitation to honor his life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. A funeral service will follow his visitation at 1:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672). Brother Wayne Hill will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Rodney’s true love was the family he created with his wife. Known as “Pop” to his six grandchildren and “Mr. Rodney” to the neighborhood children, he always found time to spend outdoors with everyone and was always taking photos. After over two decades of service at Boiler Makers Local 263, Rodney retired in 2012, but retirement was just another adventure waiting to unfold for him and his wife, Debra, and granddaughter, Alayna. Purchasing an RV, they traveled and explored the United States together. The beach and Hawaii held a special place in his heart, a place where he travelled frequently, often with his loyal canine companion, Buddy. Rodney was a man who never met a stranger, whose warmth and humor radiated effortlessly. With hands that could fix anything and a heart that overflowed with love for his family, Rodney will truly be missed by all he met. Mr. Evans leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Debra Crowder Evans; his son, Dustin (Joseph) Evans of Clarksville, TN; his two daughters, Tiffany (Jovanny) Bucio of White Bluff, TN and Christina Crowder of Southaven, MS; his grandson, Donovan McNamara of Southaven; his five granddaughters, Alayna Farris of Hernando, MS, Jazlyn, Yanetra, Nautica, and Araceli, all of White Bluff; his three sisters, Donna (Barry) Izett and Debbie (Mike) Baum both of Beebe, AR, and Sheila (Steve) Lee of Carlisle, AR; his brother Gary (Brenda) Evans of Hickory Plains, AR; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends to cherish his memory. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby E. and Donna Peachy Evans; and his sister, Anna (Bobby) Davis.
