Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Robert Dale Welch, 62, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2024, at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The funeral service celebrating his life will occur at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. Robert was welcomed into this world on April 26, 1962, in San Pedro, California, as the eldest of three children born to Robert Ernest Welch and Myra Johnson Welch. Robert had the privilege of attending Oakhaven Baptist Academy, where he discovered his love for music and played the tenor saxophone in the school band. As he grew older, he found fulfillment in working with his hands, dedicating his life to being a master carpenter. This hands-on work brought him not only joy but also a sense of accomplishment. His family fondly recalled his adventurous spirit, as he often sought out thrills in life. When he wasn’t immersed in his carpentry, Robert found comfort in fishing, cherishing those quiet moments spent by the water. Sundays held a special place in his heart, as he would settle onto the couch to cheer for the San Francisco 49ers, sharing in the excitement of the game. Beyond his love for fishing and football, he poured his creativity into woodworking, designing and constructing special projects that reflected his skill and passion. His journey was one of love, adventure, and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Although he has departed from our presence, Robert has gone to rest in a place that his beloved Lord and Savior prepared for him. Robert’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of his loved one and friends. Robert leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: his father and mother, Robert Ernest Welch and Myra Johnson Welch; one son, Christopher Welch and his wife Xing, and two daughters: Melinda Russell and her husband Jack, and Ashley Hampton; seven grandchildren: Brenden Welch, Brayden Welch, Isabela Welch, Kaitlyn Baker, Levi Russell, Addison Swartz, and Riley Swartz; one great-grandchild, Archer Baker; and two sisters: Cindy Harris and her husband Tony and Dianna Hall and her husband Joey.
