Robert Joseph "Bob" Lindekens

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Robert Joseph “Bob” Lindekens, age 78, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a deep appreciation for laughter and adventure. Bob was born on November 16, 1947, in New York, New York, to Lucien Joseph Lindekens and Manya Lipka Lindekens. He was raised in the Coral Gables community of Miami, Florida, where he graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1965. He went on to attend Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1969. Following college, Bob taught high school chemistry before beginning a successful and accomplished career in sales. He worked in pharmaceutical sales for Lederle and later in Radiological equipment sales for DuPont and Konica Minolta. A gifted salesman, Bob earned numerous awards throughout his career, reflecting both his talent and dedication, before retiring in 2015. In 1971, Bob married the love of his life, Sherri Swenson. Together they built a life centered on family, raising their children in Northeast Jackson, Mississippi. They lived in Pensacola, Florida, from 1972 to 1976 before settling back in Jackson from 1976 until 2015. In retirement, they moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where Bob became part of a close-knit and cherished community of friends in the Oxford Commons neighborhood. Bob was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid collector of antiques, clocks, watches, and firearms, and he had a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed boating, the ocean, and traveling with Sherri. He also found great joy in gardening and watching hummingbirds. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, Bob especially loved a good practical joke and brought laughter to those around him. Throughout his life, Bob attended the Methodist, Episcopal, and Baptist churches, and in his later years, he found comfort in watching his favorite preachers and church services from home. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri Lindekens; his daughter, Leigh Lindekens Bourn, and her husband, Kevin McConnell Bourn, of Oxford, Mississippi; and his grandchildren, Gracie Caroline Bourn, Kevin McConnell “Mac” Bourn, Jr., and Mary Mills Bourn. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Lindekens Dickerson and her husband, Lyman B. Dickerson, of Miami, Florida; his brother-in-law, Richard Brister and his wife, Sandra Brister, of Collierville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews, including Lily Dickerson Maddock (Locke Maddock) of New York, New York; Preston Dickerson (Jeni Dickerson) of Miami, Florida; and Lindsey Brister of Collierville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Chase Lindekens. Bob will be remembered for his warmth, humor, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
