Prissie Duncan

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mrs. Prissie Duncan, 84, passed away, Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Pinnacle Assisted Living in Oxford, MS. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church (403 University Ave., Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic church. Private family burial will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery, Buena Vista, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Prissie was born November 23, 1938, in Greenwood, MS. She proudly attended The University of Mississippi obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education. After graduation, Prissie worked for the State of Mississippi as an employment counselor until her retirement. Throughout her life she was a dedicated Ole Miss fan and was member of Quarterback Club and the Ole Miss Alumni Association. Prissie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Oxford and dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior. She was very active in her church and prayer group. Prissie was a volunteer for many years for the Oxford Food Pantry. Prissie was extremely talented and enjoyed painting, ceramics, floral arrangement, and crochet. As a collector of recipes and cookbooks, she also enjoyed cooking. She was an avid reader of all types of literature. Prissie was a funloving person and passionate about the people and the things she loved the most. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Prissie is survived by her daughters, Lori (Clark) Cobb of Senatobia, MS, and Micki (Ricky) Berry of Taylor, MS; two granddaughters, Catherine Berry of Oxford, and Hannah (John Austin Murphy) Cobb of Pope, MS; four grandsons, Jonathan (Nicole) Cobb of Pope, MS, Mitch (Kristen) Cobb of Grand Rapids, MI, Brayden (Katie) Berry of Water Valley, MS, and Matthew Cobb of Senatobia, MS; four great-granddaughters, Kaleigh and Hadleigh Cobb of Pope, MS, Reagan Cobb of Grand Rapids, MI, Salem Thompson of Amory, MS; three great-grandsons, Liam Cobb of Pope, MS, and Roland “Ro” and River Berry of Water Valley, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Prissie was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Duncan; her parents, E.W. Chapman and Mary Alice Quinn Chapman; one great-grandson, Colton Murphy; one brother, John Chapman; and one sister, Barbara Gann.
