The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 08, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Saturday, July 08, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. Following the funeral service on Saturday, an interment service will take place in the Ashland Church of Christ Cemetery (1053 Ripley Avenue, Ashland, Mississippi 38603). She graced this world with her presence on the winter day of December 11, 1927, in Ashland, Mississippi as one of three children born to the late Bill Crawford and Sallie Etta Peeler Crawford. Melba spent her days as a devoted homemaker, looking after every want and need of her beloved family. Family was of the utmost importance to Melba, she took great pride in the love and unity that encircled her close loved ones. She was best known not only as a wonderful mother but also as an affectionate caregiver. When this selfless lady was not tending to others, she could be found caring for her flowers or sewing beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. Melba was a dedicated member of Ashland Church of Christ for many decades of her life until relocating to Oxford and joining the congregation at Oxford Church of Christ. She leaves behind an expansive family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; four daughters: Judy Andrews of Oxford, Mississippi; LaNell Allen of Oxford, Mississippi; Kathy (Randy) Rice of Jackson, Tennessee; Vickie (Ted) Cobb of Petersburg, Tennessee; two sons: Glynn Cox of Starkville, Mississippi; Mike (Debbie) Cox of Cordova, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; one sister: Mary Nell Wimbs of Tampa, Florida; one brother, B.C. Crawford of Oxford, Mississippi. The loved ones that departed from this life before her include: her husband, Joe Cox; parents: Bill Crawford and Sallie Etta Peeler Crawford. In lieu of traditional flowers, the family has requested that monetary contributions be given to 21st Century Global Mission P.O. Box 277, Fulton, MS 38843. The staff at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is honored to serve the family as they begin to walk through this new season of life.
