Mary Louise Parks "Snake"

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mary Louise Parks “Snake”, 91, passed away on June 21, 2025 at her home in Abbeville, Mississippi. The family will celebrate her life privately. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the local arrangements. Ms. Mary was born on July 26, 1933 in Lafayette county, Mississippi, to the late Vernon Beck and Mary Pearl Givens. Ms. Mary worked for Jeffie Lyles at Casa Bella starting in 1965. She began by selling makeup and later went to school to become a licensed hairstylist. She opened her own salon, College Town Hair Shop, and also cut hair for the ladies at Azalea Gardens. Ms. Mary retired at the age of 82 when her health began to decline. She was a devoted member of North Oxford Baptist Church and had a deep love for the Lord, showing great strength in her faith. She often encouraged her family, reminding them, “Don’t worry about anything, it’s in the Lord’s hands.” Ms. Mary enjoyed playing bridge, cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels football team, and sharing jokes to bring smiles to those around her. Mom, you were loved by so many, and now you are free of pain. Hallelujah, praise the Lord, you are home. The family would like to thank Spring Valley Hospice and her nurse, Jimmy Durham, and her aide, Erica Smith. The family says that Ms. Mary smiled when they would come into her room to care for her, and they were a tremendous help to them. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Holcombe of Abbeville, Mississippi; her granddaughter, Kellie Feigler (Jack) of Senatobia, Mississippi; her grandson, Cully Reed Holcombe of Senatobia, Mississippi; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy Feigler McGovern (Terry) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Camille Feigler of California; and her special friends, JoAnn Vick of Water Valley, Mississippi, and Jeffie Lyles and Dianne Davidson both of Oxford, Mississippi. Ms. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Aquilla Beck and Mary Pearl Givens; her sisters, Betty Wallis and Juanita Sharpe; and her brothers, Vernon Adair Beck, David Edward Beck, and Jimmy Carl Beck.
