Martha Anne Singletary

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Martha Anne Singletary, 78, of Oxford, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Kosciusko, Mississippi ( 108 Bell St. Kosciusko, Mississippi 39090 ). The Mass celebrating her life will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Therese's Catholic Church. Martha was welcomed into this world on September 02, 1945, in Forsyth County, Georgia, as one of the four children born to the late James Welch and Geraldine Hood Welch. Upon completing her college education and obtaining her bachelor's degree, Martha married her loving husband, Joe Frank Singletary, on April 13, 1967, and the couple spent an expansive fifty-six years together, cultivating many precious memories and giving life to two children and three grandchildren. Martha lived many of her 56 years of marriage in Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she served in several ways, one of which included playing a vital role in the formation of the Volunteer Organization that supported the Kosciusko Fire Department. Throughout her married life, she rarely had a conversation with others that did not include mentioning her beloved children and grandchildren. Martha favored the intricate and detailed-oriented work linked to cross-stitching. Above all her hobbies and interests, she valued her relationship with the Lord and belonged to the body of believers at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Although she has departed from our presence, her treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of her loved ones. She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence, her husband, Joe Frank Singletary of Oxford, two sons: Joe Frank Singletary Junior of New Orleans, Louisiana; Dr. Shannon Ray Singletary and his wife, Dr. Molly Singletary of Oxford; three grandchildren: Shelby and her husband Ethan McClure of Oxford, Mississippi; Matthew Singletary of Oxford, Mississippi; Jane Anne Singletary of Oxford, Mississippi; one great-grandchild, Lynnley McClure of Oxford, Mississippi; one brother, Charles Welch of Panama City, Florida; one sister, Octavia Cochran and her husband Roy of Villa Rica, Georgia. The loved ones that departed from this life before her include her parents, James Welch and Geraldine Hood Welch, and one brother, Tommy Welch. The Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford staff is honored to serve the Singletary family as they walk through this challenging season of life.
