Louis V. Schingle

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Louis Victor Schingle, 91, of Byhalia, MS, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Methodist Hospital Olive Branch. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Autumn Woods Memorial Park. Fr. Jack Kurps, SCJ, will officiate. Louis was born on December 26, 1931 in Memphis, TN. Louis served our country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He was passionate about his work as a dairy farmer before retiring in ‘87. Even after his retirement, he still kept his beef cows and his mornings and evenings were spent with them. Louis loved to work and continued working in maintenance and greenkeeping for various golf courses, such as Holiday City, Cherokee Valley, and Plantation Golf Course. He was married to the love of his life, Lucy, for sixty-four years, and they raised three children together. Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Keller Schingle and Joseph Augustus Schingle, Sr.; and brothers, Joseph Schingle, Jr. and John Robert Schingle. Louis is survived by his wife, Lucy Schingle of Byhalia, MS; daughters, Lisa Bell (Edward) of Holly Springs, MS, and Laura Sloan (Tommy) of Byhalia, MS; son, Leonard Schingle (Brenda) of Byhalia, MS; sisters, Julia Marie Gilliland of Olive Branch, MS, Lillian Reno of Stillwell, KS; brother, Frank Schingle (Freda) of Knoxville, TN; granddaughters, Ellen Schingle of New Orleans, LA, and Madalyn Sloan of Byhalia, MS; and grandsons, Daniel Schingle (Jessica) of Columbus, MS, and Allen Sloan of Byhalia, MS. In lieu of traditional flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to Queen of Peace Catholic Church (http://qopcc.com/). In honor of Louis Shingle's service to our country, the flag of the United States Marine Corps will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home Olive Branch the day of his service.
