Lisa Jane Whitworth Norris

Lisa Jane Whitworth Norris expired at home on her 48th birthday, Thursday, October 10, 2013, after a brief and fierce battle with cancer. She was born October 10, 1965, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Gleason, Tennessee high school and attended Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. She was a cheerleader in high school and was chosen “Miss Tater Town” of Gleason, Tennessee. Also, she was an avid Tennessee Vols fan but supported the Ole Miss Rebels when they were not playing Tennessee. She enjoyed fitness training, the out of doors, the beach, reading and traveling to SEC athletic events. She was a very faithful Christian wife and mother and attended the Oxford Church of Christ. Because of her love for her two children, daughter Ashley and son Avery and because of her love for children in general, she was very active in all teen activities at church, with band boosters and athletic booster. On June20, 1986, she married her love and soul mate, William Norris. She was preceded in death by her father, Jamie Whitworth, Sr. She is survived by her husband, William, and children, Avery and Ashley, all of Oxford, Mississippi. She is also survived by her mother, Martha Whitworth, brothers Jamie, Jr. and Jeff Whitworth, all of Gleason, Tennessee. Lisa’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful support given Lisa during her illness by her employer and staff, the good people at DeVoe Carr PLLC, CPAs. They also wish to express their deepest appreciation for the treatment and care given by all those caring people at Baptist Hospital of North Mississippi. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Coleman Funeral Home. Bro. John Forgy and Paul Norris will officiate. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories at Coleman Funeral Home.
