Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Larry Mounts, 75, passed away September 2, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on September 5, 2025, at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS, 38655). A memorial service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. on September 5, 2025, also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford with Bro. Fish Robinson officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Larry was born on October 20, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Joe and Iona Carter Mounts. He was an avid outdoorsman with a particular passion for fishing, especially bass fishing. His cherished home, lovingly known as "the fishing camp," was a gathering place for family and friends, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each spring brought excitement as crappie season opened, and Mr. Larry made it feel like a special holiday for all. His love for cooking shone through during the Saturday fish fries at the camp, where he gathered those he cared about for delicious meals and shared laughter. Mr. Larry was also an enthusiastic deer hunter, finding joy in nature and the thrill of the hunt. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger. His warm spirit drew people in, and he had a gift for making friends wherever he went. A former member of the Masons and involved in various bass fishing clubs, Mr. Larry shared his passions and values with those around him. His kindness, generosity, and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Mr. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He brought joy, laughter, and togetherness to everyone around him. He is survived by his five daughters, Tina Johnson (Richard) of Abbeville, MS, Laurie Lackey (Joel) of Oxford, MS, Holly Smith (Bobby) of Rogersville, AL, Diane McGarrigle of Myerstown, PA, and Johnna Holt of White House, TN; his son, Mitchell “Mitch” Cobaugh (Nichol) of Cottontown, TN; one granddaughter, Katelin Johnson of Abbeville, MS; two grandsons, Devin Johnson of Abbeville, MS, and Noah Lackey of Oxford, MS; one great-grandson, Cameron “Goose” Cobaugh of Cottontown, TN; one niece, LaCretia Williams Brown (Daniel) of Douglasville, GA; one nephew, Perry Williams (Karen) of Daphne, AL; one great-niece, Breanna Brown of Douglasville, GA; one great-nephew, Austin Pete Williams of Daphne, AL; and one sister, Sheila Mounts Troutman (Jim) of Dandridge, TN. Mr. Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine “Katy” Hatton Mounts; his parents, Joe and Iona Carter Mounts; and one granddaughter, Johnna Cobaugh.
