Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Jim Davis, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Great Commission Church in Olive Branch. (7070 Reliance Lane, Olive Branch, MS) A funeral service celebrating Jim’ life will be Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Great Commission Church. A private interment will be held at a later date. Bro. Oscar Geeslin will officiate. Jim was a multi-sport athlete at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas while on a baseball scholarship. He loved hunting rabbits and raising beagles. He loved working in the yard. He loved the Arkansas Razorbacks. He loved spending time with his three sons, two daughters-in-love and his five precious grandsons. Most of all, he loved and adored his wife of 52 years, Lynne. They spent countless hours together playing ping-pong, tennis and softball. Jim came to Olive Branch in 1974 where he put down deep roots. Jim started his banking career at The Bank of Mississippi. He continued his banking career at Trustmark Bank and finished at First Security Bank of Olive Branch. Jim was also a charter member of the Olive Branch Rotary Club where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1993. This is the highest honor given by Rotary International for outstanding leadership and service to the community. Jim was also the only two-time president of the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce. He was honored to be named the Grand Marshal of the Olive Branch Christmas Parade in 2019. Finally, he was inducted into the Olive Branch Hall of Fame in 2021. Most importantly, Jim served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at First Baptist Church of Olive Branch for more than 40 years serving as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and trustee. In 2016, he came to Great Commission Church where he would briefly serve on staff as Facilities Manager and remain a beloved member until his death. Jim leaves behind his wife, Lynne Davis of Olive Branch; three sons, Trevor Davis (Angie) of Olive Branch, Zach Davis of Olive Branch and Jared Davis (Megan) of Olive Branch; five grandsons, Dalton Davis, Griffin Davis, Evan Davis, Cam Davis and Hudson Davis, all of Olive Branch; three siblings, Curt Davis (Peggy) of Rossville, TN, Tom Davis (Judy) of Coffeeville, MS and Mary Linda Fellows (David) of Fayetteville, AR and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite Jacobs Davis and Milford Anderson Davis and his brother, Larry Davis.
