Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Jeffrey Marlin Taylor, 52, a beloved firefighter of the City of Oxford, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A second visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Oxford (800 Van Buren Ave., Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the First Baptist Church of Oxford. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery (31 CR 429, Oxford, MS 38655). Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Jeff was born on August 23, 1971, in Oxford, MS. Throughout his life, he was a multifaceted individual with a countless number of talents. Not only did he serve his community bravely in his role as a firefighter, but he also showcased his skills as a talented cabinet maker and a master of confectionery as a “cake boss.” Whatever task Jeff undertook, he excelled with innate skill and dedication. He was charismatic and always wore a smile. Jeffrey’s infectious positivity touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Jeff always derived immense joy from bringing happiness to those around him, and he had a natural ability to make anyone feel welcome. With an endless collection of stories, Jeffrey never failed to captivate his audience, leaving them feeling comforted and secure in his presence. He was a proud firefighter of over 25 years, most of them being dedicated to his loved city of Oxford at Station 1 and as a Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Fighter. Jeff might have had many passions, but nothing could amount to the love that he had for his family, especially his grandchildren. Out of everything he had accomplished in his life, Jeff was most proud to be his grandchildren’s “G Daddy.” His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to inspire generations to come. Jeff was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, ex-husband, and partner. He is survived by his three children, Hannah (Aaron) Cullen of Oxford, Meagan (Walker) Gossett of Water Valley, MS, and Corey (Savannah) Taylor of Knoxville, TN; his mother, Mary Taylor of Oxford; his sister, Jennifer (Jim) Ray of Tuscaloosa, Al; his beloved grandchildren, Cooper Cullen and Emmett Cullen; the mother of his children, Kathleen Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
