James Norris "Buster" Renfrow

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford James Norris "Buster" Renfrow, 93, of Olive Branch and a longtime resident of the Yocona community , passed away on Wednesday, July 03, 2025, at Olive Grove Senior Living in Olive Branch. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at New Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral service celebrating his life will take place immediately following the visitation, beginning at 12:00 P.M. in the New Prospect Baptist Church sanctuary with Bro. Buster Wilson officiating. Interment will occur in the Kingdom Cemetery. James Norris Renfrow, better known to his loved ones and friends as “Buster” was born on March 01, 1932, in Ripley, Mississippi, as a son to the late Claudie Renfrow and Rivers McMillin Renfrow. Buster was a cherished member of the Yocona Community, whose life was deeply rooted in the values of dedication and community, instilled in him from his early days growing up on a hardworking farm. He found great joy in tending to his family land, a place where countless loving memories were made with those he held dear. Buster's warmth and strength shone brightly not only at home but also within his church community, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at New Prospect Baptist, guiding others with his faith and compassion. His career was a testament to his commitment, having retired from General Motors and later from Leader Federal Bank, where his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence were evident. Before embarking on this successful civilian path, he proudly served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and resilience. After many years in Memphis, Buster felt the pull of home and returned to the Yocona Community, where his heart truly belonged. He treasured the moments spent with his grandchildren, relishing in the joy of sharing stories and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Buster's absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. He will always be remembered for the light he brought into the world and the deep connections he fostered throughout his life. Buster leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; beloved wife, Cherry Robertson Renfrow of Yocona; one son, Johnny Renfrow and his wife Dianne of Hernando; six grandchildren: Jessica Renfrow Thomas of Olive Branch; Jacob Renfrow and his wife Cara of Hernando; Kalen Sanders and his wife Briana of Hernando; Kameron Sanders and his wife Samantha of Hernando; Lori Davis of Ft. McCoy, Florida; Gina Craig of Southaven; eighteen great grandchildren: Ella Thomas of Olive Branch; Autumn Renfrow of Ethridge, Tennessee; Sunni Renfrow of Hernando; Dayne Smith of Hernando; Mackenzie Smith of Hernando; Colby Smith of Hernando; Christian Smith of Hernando; Kaylee Sanders of Hernando; Kolin Sanders of Hernando; Khloe Sanders of Hernando; Stefan Sanders of Hernando; Billy Davis of Lynchburg, Virginia; Leland Craig of Southaven; Sutherland Craig of Southaven; Remington Craig of Southaven; Lily Craig of Southaven; Given Craig of Southaven; and Dani Craig of Southaven; two sisters: Johnnie Ella Hurdle and her Husband Johnny of Oxford; Geraldine Champion of Oxford; one brother, Jack Renfrow and his wife Sarah of Oxford. The loved ones who departed from this life before Buster include his parents. Claudie Renfrow and Rivers McMillin Renfrow; one daughter, Kellye Renfrow Fortune; two great-grandsons, Kaden Sanders and Hunter Davis; three sisters: Doris Savage, Joy Tutor, and Joanne Crow.
