Harold Gene Henley

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Harold Gene Henley, 78, of Byhalia, MS, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN. Friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. Jared Rhodes of Olive Branch Church of Christ will officiate. Harold was born on June 28, 1944, to the late Claud and Naomi Ruth (Kirksey) Henley. He graduated from Coldwater High School, class of 1963, and put himself through business school. After retiring from the railroad for twenty years as a pipefitter, Harold obtained his broker’s license and built and sold homes for twelve years. He later built and owned three On the Go Market and Deli’s, located at the Citgo in Nesbit, Amico in Coldwater on Interstate 55, and the BP on Highway 61. He and his wife, Connie, ran the convenience stores for fourteen years. Harold was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Hernando and a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed spending time at the lake house and going fishing. Harold was a family man and loved children. He always had nieces and nephews in the house keeping him busy. As long as everyone was happy, he was happy. Harold will be remembered by all who knew him. Left to cherish Harold’s memory is his wife of forty-six years, Connie Coopwood Henley of Byhalia, MS; daughter, Joy Johnson (Luke) of Olive Branch, MS; sons, Thomas Paul Henley of Senatobia, MS and Mark Allen Henley (Kim) of Southaven, MS; four grandchildren, Lexie Henley, Owen Reed Johnson, Emma Ruth Johnson, Cole Ross Johnson; great-granddaughter, Daisy; brother, Bob Henley of Pahrump, NV; and sister-in-law, Wanda Henley of Southaven, MS. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Henley.
