Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven George Arnold Hodges, Jr., 53, passed away on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, with his family surrounding him in Memphis, TN. The celebration of his life will occur on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m at Coleman Funeral Home in Southaven. A graveside memorial will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Enid, MS, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. George was the quintessential family man, a cherished son, and loving father. A beloved life-long member of his community, George was a beacon of light who spread his warmth and compassion along to anyone he passed. His unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends knew no bounds. George was a gentle, kind, soul who was always there as a helping hand or a listening ear for those in need. George was a warm-hearted, doting son, given a childhood full of love and care where he learned the importance of family, especially from his mother who adored him. He attended Southaven elementary through high school. He found joy and camaraderie on the football field, where he learned values of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. As he grew older, that passion transformed into cherishing unforgettable moments of watching Ole Miss Rebels football with his son and father. He secured a job he loved, delivering packages and smiles to the surrounding communities. In his off time, George enjoyed the quiet, patient, game of golf, perfecting his golf swing in the fresh, calming breeze. Many of his friends will forever remember the joy he showed while on the green. George was most proud when he was celebrating the achievements of his children, whether it was a coaching his son’s team to a big win or watching his daughter win academic awards. He was always their biggest supporter, personally invested in their growth, and passing along the knowledge and values he acquired. George enjoyed a simple life, focused on providing and being there for his family. Despite facing immense challenges including the decline of his mother’s health and open heart surgery at only 24 years and, he worked tirelessly to give his family everything without complaint. Through hard times, his spirit and resilience never wavered. He lived and created a life full of amazing memories that will forever live on in the people he touched. Even now, his selfless decision of donating his organs will allow his legacy of generosity to live on. Though George carried a big heart, it was also a heavy heart. He wore his struggles quietly, holding his pain with grace. Let his life remind us that even the strongest pillars need support, and the shoulders that bear our burdens also need a place to rest. George is survived by his life partner and mother of his children, Emily Renee’ Hodges; his daughter, Taylor Payne Hodges; his son, George Hunter Hodges and daughter-in-law, Ashley Katana Savadphayphane-Hodges; and his father, George Arnold Hodges, Sr., all of Southaven.
