Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Erlene Morris Rikard, 77, of Oxford, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital on Friday, February 09, 2024. The family will receive friends at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service celebrating her life will occur on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. Erlene graced this World with her presence on September 13, 1946, as one of the four children born to the late Robert Blaine Morris and Birdie Dee Dickey Morris. She married her loving husband, David Kenneth Rikard, on June 27, 1966, and the couple spent an expansive fifty-seven years, seven months, and thirteen days together. During their marriage that lasted over half a century, the couple gave life to three sons and abundant memories made while walking down the path of life. Erlene spent her days as a devoted homemaker, looking after the needs and wants of her family before her own. When she was not cooking meals for her family or doting on her beloved grandchildren, she could be nestled into her favorite spot on the couch, catching up on the drama of her favorite Soap Operas, Young and The Restless and As the World Turns. Aside from the Soap Operas, she was known to enjoy watching Wheel of Fortune and the Price is Right while scouring through a tasking word search puzzle. Although Erlene has departed from our presence, her treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of her loved ones and friends. She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: her beloved husband, David Kenneth Rikard of Oxford, Mississippi; one son, David Paul Rikard of Oxford, Mississippi; one sister, Ruth Marie Stricklan of Water Valley, Mississippi; one brother, Abraham Lincoln Morris and his wife Nancy Diane Morris of Forest, Mississippi; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren four step-great-grandchildren; longtime best friend, Linda Prockish of Topeka, Kansas. The loved ones who departed from this life before her include her parents, Robert Blaine Morris and Birdie Dee Dickey Morris; two sons, Brian Dennis Rikard and Ira Robert Rikard; and one sister, Robbie Anne Casteel.
