Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Doyle Traylor, 86, of Oxford, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 11, 2024, after an extended illness. The family will receive friends at Anchor Baptist Church on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service celebrating his life will occur on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Anchor Baptist Church. Burial will take place in Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery, with Bro. Gerald Shook officiating and the United States Navy rendering honors. Doyle was born in Oxford, Mississippi, on March 16, 1938, to the late Claude Benson Traylor and Lola Clydell Malone Traylor. After graduating, he proudly served in our United States Navy, then the United States Navy Reserve, and finally the National Guard. Like most of his generation, he had a profound work ethic that led him to rise before the sun and work until dusk. Doyle was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for many years before retiring. Aside from his role as a mail carrier, he drove a school bus for the Oxford school system and later the Lafayette County school system and a charter bus for Callahan Tours, all while owning and operating a fencing company. In his free time, Doyle had numerous hobbies. He was a talented whittler, constructing many different things such as, dice, dominos, even fishing lures, and sailboats. He was also known for his pranks and humorous demeanor, always finding a way to bring laughter to the room. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren, never shying from giving his supportive role. Above all, he cherished his relationship with the Lord and worshipped alongside the congregation at Anchor Baptist Church. Although he has departed from our presence, Doyle’s memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. Doyle leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence, his three daughters: Patricia (Larry) Finn of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Martha (David) Vanderford of Oxford, and Jennifer (Lance) Spiker-Luna of Pontotoc; his son, Bubba (Beverly) Traylor of Oxford; his sister, Betsy (Gene) Pannell of Lebanon, Tennessee; his two brothers, Billy (Elizabeth) Traylor of Belden, Mississippi and Earl (Glenda) Traylor of Gasport, Indiana; seven grandchildren; Matthew Vanderford, Blake Henderson, Brandy Kay Traylor, Andrew Vanderford, Sarah Watts, Jacob Hunt, and Alex Gray; two honorary grandchildren: Hailey Thrift and Lexi Thrift; and seven great-grandchildren. The loved ones who departed from this life before him include his wife, Janice Kay Traylor; his father and mother, Claude Benson Traylor and Lola Clydell Malone Traylor; two sisters, Sue Sims and Lola Speer; and one infant brother.
