Doyle Morene King

Doyle Morene King, 94, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, surrounded by family in Tupelo, Mississippi. A visitation will take place Friday, February 17, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., with a service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. All services honoring Mr. King will be at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Internment will be at the Garden of Memories of Oxford. Bro. Robert Frierson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. King leaves quite a legacy for his family as a loyal husband and dad. He was a great provider, and he stayed beside his dear wife until the end of her life. He was the same person throughout his life, even as he approached death. There was nothing fake or pretentious about Mr. King. He raised his family in Memphis and lived there until his retirement from Kellogg in 1991. His children’s friends enjoyed spending time with Mr. Doyle and Ms. Eva Sue and loved them as second parents. He even helped raise some of his grandchildren, and he loved having each of them for extended visits. Mr. King loved his animals, people, and his flower garden. He was a prolific gardener raising, harvesting, and even arranging flowers for his dear wife. One of the things that extended his life was his list of 80 things he wanted to accomplish after retirement. He loved to sing; he was a good dancer; he was a great craftsman even building their home; he was always there to lead in prayer; and his very life was a witness for Christ. Mr. King enjoyed family vacations to Florida, and he had many stories from his visit to Alaska when Sharon lived there. He served in the U.S. Army, and he had church family at both Calvary Baptist and First Baptist in Oxford. He will be missed by his family and friends, but they are sustained by his legacy and many happy memories. Doyle is survived by his children, Steve King, Sharon King, and Charlotte Lovitt; his grandchildren, Wyatt King, Abby King, Christy Lovitt Bales, Kinsey Bales, Kaylee Bales, and Keith and Tananda Lovitt; great grandchildren, Tucker Lee Lovitt and Sawyer Lovitt; one brother, Norris King; one sister, Gladys Meads; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva Sue King; his parents, C.V. and Ethel King; his siblings, Claudine King, Russell King, Marion King, Larry King, D.C. “Windy” King, J.B. King, Mae Ingram, Faye Burgess, and Hazel Collins. Coleman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the King family as they adjust to their new way of life.
