Douglas James Haggett

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Douglas James Haggett,72, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at his residence in Oxford on Friday, May 03, 2024. The family has elected not to host any services and will celebrate his life privately at a later date. Upon completing his school education, Douglas quickly entered the workforce. He provided for his family as a shuttle bus driver, entertaining a career for over thirty years. In addition to his roles in transportation, he belonged to the Teamsters Union 618 and served as a Shop Steward and Trustee. His position in the Union gave him the authority to bargain for fair working conditions and wages for his fellow union members. Aside from looking after the needs of his fellow working men, Douglas enjoyed fishing. He could most often be found catfishing the lakes of Busch's Wildlife Reserve in Weldon Springs, Missouri. When Douglas was not enjoying the scenic views while fishing, he had a passion for telling stories to anyone who would listen to tales of his life experiences. In addition, he loved cooking and possessed the skills to make delectable meals for his family and friends. Douglas was a devout member of the Catholic Church and belonged to the congregation at St. Andrew's in St. Louis, Missouri since the age of 5. Although he has departed from our presence, Douglas's memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of his loved ones and friends. Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Newton Haggett of Oxford, Mississippi; two sons: Casey Adams of Oxford, Mississippi; Ryan Haggett of Granite City, Illinois; two grandchildren: Connor Adams and Keeton Adams of Oxford, Mississippi; two brothers, David Haggett of Piedmont, Missouri and Robert Haggett of Hillsdale, Wisconsin; one sister: Tara Haggett Howell and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hugh Haggett and Delores Sullivan Haggett; three brothers, Paul Haggett, Michael Haggett and Gregory Hugh Haggett.
