Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Dorothy Melton Maxwell, 90, passed away on Thursday, July 04, 2025 at her daughter’s residence in Como. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 09, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The funeral service celebrating her life will occur immediately following the visitation, beginning at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home with Bro. Fish Robinson officiating. Dorothy graced this world with her presence on February 09, 1935, in Caraway, Arkansas as one of the daughters born to the late William H Melton and Sarah Marie Priddy. One of her greatest loves was Elvis Presley. Dorothy often traveled to Graceland, his famous home, where she felt a special connection to the King of Rock and Roll. She was a devoted fan who enjoyed listening to his music and collecting his memorabilia. Dorothy was also a huge football fan, especially when it came to the New Orleans Saints. She loved cheering for her team while waring Saints clothing, topping off the outfits with face paint match the team colors. She was well known for her vibrant personality and her love for life. Dorothy had a passion for visiting the casino, where she spent countless happy hours playing her favorite slot machines. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and she had a gift for making people laugh. Dorothy's laughter could light up any room, and she had a way of bringing joy to those around her. One thing that always stood out about Dorothy was her signature red lipstick; she never left the house without it, adding a touch of glamour to her already sparkling personality. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. She left a lasting impression on all our hearts, and her spirit will live on through the memories we cherish. Rest in peace, Dorothy. Dorothy leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: two daughters: Linda Evanoff of Como and Sharon Eubanks of Como; seventeen grandchildren and a host of dearly loved great grandchildren; two sisters: Carolyn Johnson of Millington, Tennessee; Mary Alexander of Bruce; one brother, William Melton and wife Leona of Memphis, Tennessee. The loved ones who departed from this life before her include: beloved husband, James Wayne Maxwell; parents, William H Melton and Sarah Marie Priddy; one daughter, Marilyn Ann Price; two sons, Glen Maxwell and Jimmy Maxwell; two sisters: Martha Fitzgerald and Billy Horton; one brother, Charles Melton.
