Dorothy Gardner

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mrs. Dorothy Gardner, 97, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church (31 CR 429, Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery. Bro. David Ard will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dorothy was born and raised in Lafayette County, MS. She was always an incredibly strong and determined woman, with a gentle, loving soul. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put family first, and instilled that same mindset throughout her generations to come. One of her favorite family traditions was making her homemade cornbread with her great-granddaughter, Lila Kate. Mrs. Dorothy was a true Country girl who loved to work her farm, taking care of her cows and chickens and riding her four-wheeler. She loved the outdoors and spent as much time outside as she could. She was also a dedicated Christian woman. Dorothy and her late husband, Robert, volunteered many hours helping others in the community on their own time and also through their church. She was a proud member at Shiloh Baptist Church and enjoyed her duties cleaning and cooking. Mrs. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Karl) Sealy of Oxford; her granddaughter, Bridget (Alex) Roberts of Chattanooga, TN; her grandson, Matt (Megan) Sealy of Oxford; her great-granddaughter, Lila Kate Sealy of Oxford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mrs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gardner; her parents, Mae Brummett and Curt Brummett; and 9 siblings, Ottis Brummett, Norris Brummett, Clelon Brummett, Henry Brummett, Robert Louis Brummett, Baby Boy Brummett, Myrtle Allen, Catherine Foeshee, and Ollie Lee Brummett. Donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Dorothy Gardner may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Fund (31 CR 429, Oxford, MS 38655).
