Dorothy Zoe Bleil

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Dorothy Zoe Bleil of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024, at the age of 98. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Jimmy Rock will officiate. She was born in Northfield, Minnesota on April 8, 1925, but moved to Minneapolis, MN at an early age. Upon graduating from high school, she worked at a bank in Minneapolis until she met her husband, Louis “Louie” Bleil. They were married in his hometown, Erie, PA, on August 16, 1947. She did not work outside the home, so her primary job was to take care of her family, and she did a wonderful job of doing so! She enjoyed making delicious meals and homemade baked goods. Louie was a career Army man and later worked for the FAA, which led them to move to 10 states, as well as England, France, and Germany. Both the Army and the FAA required him to travel a great deal, leaving her at home to take care of everything. She did not drive, so sometimes that was quite a challenge, but she was very resourceful and always figured things out! She was not shy about asking for assistance from friends, neighbors, and relatives, and they were always happy to help. She loved to have fun and enjoyed playing games and making jigsaw puzzles. Her hobbies also included knitting and embroidery. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the Senior Center when she lived in Palmetto, Georgia. There she learned to line dance and make various crafts and enjoyed taking day trips to fun and interesting places. Dorothy loved her whole family dearly, and due to her amazing memory, she never missed acknowledging their special occasions with greeting cards, gifts, and phone calls. She had a special place in her heart for animals as well, especially her beloved cat, Baby. She was an amazing and strong lady and was very kind, caring, considerate, and thoughtful. She loved everyone and everyone loved her, and she even became a mother and grandmother figure to many who had lost their own. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Howard - deceased) Doyle of Bartlett, TN, Nancy (Dale) Walters of Bartlett, TN, and Susan (Clay) McKee of Olive Branch, MS; her grandchildren, Laurie Walters (Dave Brubaker) of Clearwater, FL, Stacie (John) Baptista of Bartlett, TN, Clayton (Keely) McKee of Southaven, MS, and Cameron McKee of Olive Branch MS; her great-granddaughter, Zoe Urtuzuastegui of Clearwater, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Walter R. Lashbrook; her husband of 58 years, Louis T. Bleil, and her two brothers, Harold Lashbrook and Robert Lashbrook. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials in honor of Dorothy Zoe Bleil may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.ASPCA.org.
