Donald "Don" Eugene Haire

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Donald Eugene Haire, 73, of Courtland, passed away in the early morning hours of July 09, 2024, at his residence. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Eureka Community Church (1486 Cosby Road, Courtland, Mississippi 38620). The funeral service celebrating his life will take place in the sanctuary of Eureka Community Church at 1:00 PM, with burial following the service in Eureka Private Cemetery. Bro. Don Bollinger will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Donald, better known to his loved ones and friends as Don, was welcomed into this world in Batesville, Mississippi, as one of the seven children born to the late William Calvin Haire, Sr. and Mary Kathleen Wearing Haire. Don spent forty-eight years walking down the path of life with his beloved wife, Kay Johnson Haire. During their journey across the decades, Don and Kay raised two children, two grandchildren, and an immeasurable amount of memories. Aside from his role as a family man, he was employed with Dunlap and Kyle as a salesperson, a career of 43 years in which he excelled due to his warm and joyful personality. When retirement called his name, Don found the time to practice his hobbies and interests full-time. He found great joy in baiting a hook and casting a line fishing with his son, Catfish and his grandson, Captain Bream. In addition to his love for fishing, he enjoyed watching football but rooted explicitly for the University of Mississippi and the South Panola Tigers. He and his son Chris were even long time guests on Tiger Talk, where they would discuss the success of the South Panola Tigers. Also, Don loved an excellent meal, whether from a local restaurant or specially prepared by the hands of his wife Kay. His grandchildren lovingly referred to him as D. He and Whitt loved riding around scouting for deer, and he and Lucy always loved to rock out to Lynard Skynard. However, above all his hobbies and interests, his faith in the Lord was of the utmost importance, and he belonged to the congregation at Eureka Community Church. He dearly loved his church, church family, and the various ministries that served the kingdom. Don was best known as the candy man at the church, always having a treat to pass out to the children of the congregation. Although he has departed from our presence, Don’s memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: his beloved wife, Kay Johnson Haire of Courtland, Mississippi; one daughter, Paige Russell and her husband Chris of New Albany, Mississippi; one son, Chris Haire of Courtland; two grandchildren: Whitt Russell and Lucy Russell of New Albany; three brothers, Dr. William C Haire and his wife Maribeth of Sardis, Mississippi, Tim Haire and his wife Debbie of Batesville, Mississippi, and Joey Haire of Sardis; one sister, Mary Pauline Rodrigue and her husband John of Senatobia, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Belle Haire Finney of Batesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The loved ones who departed from this life before him include his father and mother, William Calvin Haire, Sr. and Mary Kathleen Wearing Haire; and two brothers, Mike Haire and Johnny Haire.
