Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mrs. Dawn Nelson, 33, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at her home in Southaven, MS, with family by her side. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 4:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens in Southaven, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Dawn was born to Rob and Josie Tomlinson. She spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her beloved children and taking care of their home, which was her biggest passion in life. She is described as being selfless, loving, and nurturing. She was a woman of faith, always studying God’s word, with her favorite Bible verse being Habakkuk 3:17-18 ESV. 17 “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor the fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” She left the legacy of inspiring others with how she endured suffering with her battle against cancer by her strength and grace. Although her life cut short, her faith and genuineness will be a living testimony to all the lives she touched while here. Dawn is survived by her husband, Cody Nelson, of Southaven; children, Madi, Isaiah, and Mackenzie Nelson; parents, Rob and Josie Tomlinson, of Atoka, TN; brother, Ryan (Carol) Tomlinson, of Memphis, TN; nephews, Emory Tomlinson, of Memphis, and Max Nelson, of Spring Hill, TN; grandmother, Diana Tomlinson, of Des Moines, IA; aunts, Vilma (Ted) Mendoza, of Atoka, TN, Virginia Allawan, Philippines, and Yolanda Murillo, Philippines; uncles, Scott Tomlinson, of Des Moines, Mateo Allawan, Jr., Philippines, and Mildred Allawan, Philippines; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randy (Marilyn) Nelson, of Killen, AL; and her brother-in-laws, Dustin (Kandace) Nelson, of Spring Hill, TN, and Tanner Nelson, of Killen, AL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mateo Sr., and Maria Dejaresco Allawan and Howard Tomlinson; and uncles Steve Tomlinson, Nestor Allawan, and Nilo Allawan.
