Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Cora Melba Cooper, 85, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2024, in Southaven, MS. A visitation to honor her life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672). A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cooper was born December 17, 1938 in Imboden, AR, the youngest of eleven siblings. She married the love of her life, Joe Ray Cooper, February 22, 1960 and together, they created a family and reared their three sons, Perry, Scott, and James. Melba was a proud Air Force military wife. For 23 and a half years, she patriotically served our country by lovingly supporting her husband, Joe Ray Cooper, during his military service and career. Mrs. Cooper loved fiercely, particularly her family. She was a devoted wife, doting mother, beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. Melba leaves behind her two sons, James (Melissa) Cooper of Southaven, MS and Perry (Myra) Cooper of San Antonio, TX; her five grandchildren, Erin (Alex) Cooper Smith of Houston, TX, Kristen (Parker) Cooper Rush of Southaven, Elise (Vincent) Cooper Alvarez of San Diego, CA, Kelcey Cooper of Southaven, and Kyle Cooper of Richmond, VA; her seven great grandchildren, Nolan Alvarez, Jane Alvarez and Calvin Alvarez all of San Diego, CA, Henry Smith of Houston, TX, Eleanor Rush, Emmy Rush and Eliza Rush of Southaven; her sister, Gladys Malone of Imboden, AR, over thirty nieces and nephews, and many friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joe Ray Cooper; her son, Edwin Scott Cooper; her granddaughter, Sydney Lane Cooper; her great granddaughter, Harper Reese Fell, her parents, William Jack and Elsie Dent Dickson; and her siblings, Lila Snow, Lennie Fortson, Sam Dickson, Bud Dickson, Wilma Trenholm, Mary Holder, Ruby Lawrence, Charles Dickson and Velma Gore.
