Cinda Jean Tidmore Waterman

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Cinda Jean Tidmore Waterman, 76, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at her home in Oxford, MS. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of local arrangements. Cinda was born on January 7, 1948 in Whittier, California, to Eva Maudell Knight and Jerry Bazel Tidmore. She was the oldest of three, her younger sisters being Kay Leverne and Elda Jane. To have known Cinda was to love her. Her kind, thoughtful, and genuine nature was the foundation upon which her light, effervescent, and sweet nature was reflected to the world. She made the stars shine brighter and the sunshine warmer just by being in the world. A cheerleader in high school, she was always very popular and smart. She was nominated homecoming queen, but her nomination was rescinded when it was discovered that the boys that fancied her had stuffed the ballot box on her behalf. An absolute animal lover, Cinda cared for domesticated and farm animals through her life, often capturing, spaying/neutering, and re-releasing the feral ones while leaving food on her back doorstep for them. Cinda had many adventures throughout her life having grown up in California. She then moved to Oregon, where she lived in close connection with the earth and amongst her farm and domestic animals. She became a commercial fisher(wo)man and took long haul trips across the Pacific Ocean to Tahiti. She created her own gourmet canned tuna fish brand called ‘Cinda's Sea Maiden Harvest’ in which the tuna was canned then cooked in a variety of white wines. Cinda never had any kids of her own, but all her friends’ kids loved her! She was like a nanny to her community when the parents needed a vacation away from their kids. One summer she was the Siletz librarian who ran the summer reading program for kids. Another passion of Cinda's was attending the annual Oregon Country Fair where she collected and sought after the beautiful beaded jewelry, while collaborating with fellow creative minds. She hosted a ladies’ group that met at her house every week where they would bead together. Amongst dear friends, Cinda, attended endless concerts over the years that included camping at some of the music venues like Reggae on the River and the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington. She also sailed on Jam Cruise in the Caribbean. Rock and Roll, Reggae, and Blue Grass were Cinda's favored music genres before she got "into the blues" after meeting her late husband Richard “Dick” Waterman, at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival. She moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where together they travelled and attended music events near and far. Cinda will forever burn bright in the hearts of those whose life she touched; she would want to be boldly celebrated in any special way, with a dance, a song, or a beautiful sunset by those who loved her.
