Charles M. "Chuck" Jenkins, 55, President of Jenkins Consulting Services, lost a brave battle against Pancreatic Cancer on Friday, July 10, 2015 at his home in Oxford, MS. Chuck was born in Tupelo, MS, on September 26, 1959, to Robert Luther and Pat Watkins Jenkins. He was a two-time Taylor-Medalist graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he earned four Engineering degrees, concluding in a Computer Science PhD. Though he was widely known as a computer software engineer and as a respected leader and innovator in the global oil and gas industry, he was most fondly regarded by his colleagues and friends as a man of integrity and high ethical standards. Of all the diverse avenues that he pursued in his career, he was particularly rewarded by his role as an instructor at the University of Mississippi. He also served as a member of the Engineering Advisory Board and as the advisor for Tau Beta Pi at Ole Miss. Arguably, his most indelible successes live on in the relationships that he cultivated with his tender and compassionate heart. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, relative and friend. He found solace in his deep-rooted faith in God. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and was intensely passionate about his commitment to philanthropy. In his free time he enjoyed listening to music, perfecting the science of caring for his lawn, playing guitar, and dancing the jitterbug with his loving wife. He was an avid baseball fan and rarely missed an Ole Miss home game. His inquisitive mind and reverence for learning were magnetic and his steadfast spirit lives on in all of those he touched. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheryl Susan Williams Jenkins, two sons, Charles Shelby “CJ” Jenkins of Baltimore, Maryland, James Luke Jenkins of Oxford, his parents, a brother, Bobby Jenkins (Sherry) of Tupelo, a sister, Donna Habel (Bruce) of Raeford, North Carolina, and his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Audrey Williams of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and July 12, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Ann Whitaker officiating. Memorial services will be handled by Coleman Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to be made to Dr. Charles (Chuck) Michael Jenkins Fund, to carry on his commitment to the students in the UM School of Engineering.
