Charles Cleo Holt

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Charles Cleo Holt, 88, of Byhalia, MS, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Coleman Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Monte Shinkles will officiate. Interment will be at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Charles was born on August 8, 1934, in Washington, MO. He graduated from Owensville High School and later in life received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years. He retired as a Senior Master Sargent in 1977. After his military service, he worked for Emerson Electric Company for twenty years. Charles was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Eads, TN. He was also active in the Wounded Warriors Project, and the Budd Builders Missionary Outreach that helped build churches and missionary houses all over the United States. Charles was married to the love of his life, Ella, for sixty-five years. He and his wife traveled the United States for over a year camping in their R.V. Charles was devoted to his family. He supported his grandchildren by traveling to their rodeos, ballgames, and other events. Charles was a big fisherman and also enjoyed pen craftsmanship. He was loved by many and will be forever remembered. Charles is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Holt (Sandy Alexander) of Hendersonville, TN; sons, Kent W. Holt (Shannon) of Byhalia and Kerry A. Holt (Ann) of New Haven, MO; granddaughters, Sarah Brown (Justin) of Jackson, TN, Rebekah Taylor (Nick) of Como, MS, Leah Wilson (Blake) and Abigail Richards (John) of Collierville, TN, Rachel Hurbis (Peyton) of Byhalia; grandsons, Uriah K. Holt (Apryl), Daniel Holt (Diana) and David Holt of Byhalia and Ian Holt (Danielle) of New Haven, MO and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Holt; parents, Theodore and Katherine Holt, and brothers, Donald Mitchell and Tom Holt. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Charles Holt to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS (www.sanctuaryhospicehouse.com) or Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). In honor of Charles Holt’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Air Force will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home on the day of the services.
