Carl Dean "Butch" Gandy

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Carl Dean “Butch” Gandy, 76, of Paris, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at his residence in Paris. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Carl Dean might have been called many names, but he answered to Butch, who was born on the winter day of December 14, 1947, as one of the four children born to the late W.E. “Pat” Gandy and Lorene Ganger Gandy. Butch spent an expansive forty-eight years walking down the path of life with his beloved wife, Carol Jean Gandy, before her passing in 2014. While strolling down this path together, the couple gave life to two sons and many memories. Aside from his role as a husband and father, Butch was known for his unwavering work ethic, often working seven days a week and frequently letting others know he had “ ten-thousand things to do” and not enough time to get them done. He spent many years operating heavy machinery as the proprietor of Gandy Logging, all while farming cattle. After several years of service in the timber industry, he dedicated all his ethics to farming row crops and cattle. However, no matter how full his plate was, Butch made time to help anyone in need. He was an honest man who viewed the world in black and white, treating everyone he met with honesty and integrity. Although he has departed from our presence, Butch’s memory will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. Butch leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life; two sons: Jeff Gandy and his wife Terri of Paris, Mississippi; and Joey Gandy and his wife Cynthia of Hermitage, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Kasie Fassinger and her husband Brandon of Paris, Mississippi; Kalyn Parks and her fiancée Jordan of Paris, Mississippi; and one sister, Maxine Hurley of Southaven, Mississippi; and special friend, Margaret Whitworth of Bruce, Mississippi. The loved ones who departed from this life before him include his beloved wife, Carol Parker Gandy; his parents, W.E. “Pat” Gandy and Lorene Ganger Gandy; his granddaughter, Kayla Brooke Gandy; his brother, Walter Gandy; and his sister, Irene Brasher.
