Burdette "Bob" Roberts

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Burdette “Bob” Roberts, 93, of Byhalia, MS passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Baptist Desoto Hospital. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery in New Albany, MS. Bro. Oscar Geeslin of Meadow Brook Baptist Church will officiate. Bob was born on August 23, 1930 in Pontotoc County, MS. Bob served our country honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked in acoustical ceiling installation and owned his own business, Roberts Acoustical. He was a hard worker and loved his job. He tried to retire and ended up coming back to the business twice. Even though Bob kept himself busy with work, he still made sure he had time to spend with his family and was happy to end his days playing with the kids. Bob attended and was involved with Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Byhalia, MS. When Bob finally retired, he spent most of his time in the garden. Not only was Bob an avid gardener, but he also enjoyed spending time outside fishing and was an expert domino player. He was a quiet person and that fit perfectly with his best friend and wife, Marlene. They were married for 63 years, and they built a life and family together. Bob will be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing and loving him. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Roberts; father, Sam Riddle; brothers, Jim Riddle and Rudolph Roberts; and sister, Jessie Brubaker. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene Roberts of Byhalia, MS; daughters, Amy Darlene Johnson (Joe) of Hernando, MS, Becky Lynn Scott, and Benita Jo Ward (Gary) of Walls, MS; brothers, Norris Roberts (Diane) of Collierville, TN and Myral Roberts (Bernice) of Moscow, TN; sister, Q'Jette Trusty of Olive Branch, MS; grandson, Blake Johnson of Hernando, MS; granddaughter, Audrey Morehead (Sean) of Fairbanks, AK; and a host of other family and friends who loved him. In honor of Bob's service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch on the day of the services.
