Barry Joseph Ray

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Barry Joseph Ray, 57, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2024, in his hometown of Olive Branch, MS. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Thursday, July 11th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Olive Branch Church of Christ (9100 E Sandidge Rd., Olive Branch, MS 38654). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 12th, at 10:00 a.m., also at the Olive Branch Church of Christ. Interment will be at Autumn Woods Memorial Park in Olive Branch, immediately following the service. Jared Rhodes and Mike Hixson will officiate. Barry was a graduate of Olive Branch High School, Class of 1985. Two years later, he married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Karen, which led to 37 years of marriage. Barry was the proud second-generation owner of the Overhead Door Company of Memphis. After his father’s passing in June of 2022, Barry took pride in continuing his father’s legacy alongside his son, Brandon. Barry was an active member of the Olive Branch Church of Christ and was a great Christian example for his family and everyone that he encountered. Anyone who knew Barry would agree that he was the most selfless person they had ever met; willing to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. In his spare time, Barry enjoyed working on cars, trucks, boats, and anything else that would go fast. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, and he loved telling the stories that came from those adventures. If Barry wasn’t tinkering in the garage or riding his John Deere, you could find him playing with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Pop”. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Barry is survived by his wife, Karen Adair Ray; daughters, Hailey McConnell (Garret) and Harlie Barker (Jacob); son, Brandon Ray (Leah); granddaughters, Vera McConnell, Laken Ray, Lyla Jo Ray, and Rosemary Barker; grandson, Harrison Barker; mother, Annette Murphy Ray; sister, Shelly Webster (Mickey Roland). Barry was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Herman Ray. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials may be placed, in his honor, to the Olive Branch Church of Christ (662-895-5102).
